Jewish Holiday Heroines 

Course Description
In this six-week program from Melton-favorite teacher and gynocentric Torah scholar Rabbi Sivan Rotholz, we will explore the Jewish calendar through the lens of the women featured in the Jewish holidays. From Chag Habanot (the North African Jewish Festival of Daughters) to Lailah and the Tree of Souls for Tu B’Shvat, from Lilith to the medieval practice of remembering Jephthah's daughter on the winter solstice, we will discover some of the lesser-known female heroines of the Jewish year. Through this discovery, we will gain insights into new role models and see the multi-dimensionality of some of our more famous Biblical women. And when we explore Esther and Vashti and the feminine origins of Hamantaschen, it will give you something unforgettable to share at next year's Purim party!
