Tikkun Olam Leadership Scholarship Application

Purpose: To provide incentive funding for young people to participate in immersive hands-on tikkun olam (social action) projects

Requirements and Eligibility: (any of the below can be waived with permission)

  • NOTE:  items below are for long term projects. 
    • Requirements are waved for teens participating in the L'takein Seminar.  
  • Wise members, staff, or Wise Readers to Leaders participants
  • Application and interview must be completed (unless waived)
  • Recipient must sign contract agreeing to an e-published record of their work and agree to providing Wise with access, which will also allow Wise to publicize their project
  • A curated list of potential projects appears on the Wise web page (but this list is not exhaustive)
  • Recipient may design their own project (complete business plan must be submitted to the committee).
  • Project must provide direct service to beneficiaries at the service site location (virtual projects are not eligible)
  • The applicant will be required to report all financial aid they are requesting from other organizations
  • The applicant must be available for a face-to-face interview (in-person or via web-based video conferencing such as Zoom or Facetime)

Grant Amounts

  • Projects under 1 month will receive no more than $500 (exceptions are possible)
  • Projects from 1 month to 6 months can receive up to $2,500
  • The fund will supplement grants from other sources not to exceed the actual cost of participation in the program.
  • Depending on project all funds may not be distributed at once (at discretion of awards committee)

[1] Projects where student remains in LA are not eligible.  Projects in Israel must reflect the broad spectrum of liberal Zionist values. 



Email a resume detailing your education, involvements while at school (if relevant), and other pertinent information that would assist our committee in deciding on your application.

Please email two letters of reference from non-related individuals who can speak about your character and your commitment to tikkun olam.

If this project is not affiliated with an organization please provide a budget, actual implementation plan, contacts in the region.
