Committee Chairs

Please indicate any committee chairs YOU would like to be considered for OR for which you would like to nominate a FRIEND.

Early Childhood
Book Fair Pajama Party: Take part in planning and facilitating a favorite book fair event: the EC Pajama Party. Coordinate with the librarian and book fair chairs for a fun-filled evening of story time, pizza, and pajamas.

Max Hess Library: The chair is responsible for sending out birthday cards and donation forms, as well as overseeing the process of the creating placards for the book and delivering it to the classroom to be read before returning it to it’s final home, the Max Hess Library.

Pre-K Celebration: Parents, it’s time to get creative! Help create a magical celebration for our Pre-K children graduating preschool. This committee will also put together the yearbook and DVD.

Yom Ha Moreh (EC): In celebration of our Wise EC teachers, administration and school staff, parents will help coordinate a wonderful off-campus event honoring their dedication and hard work.

Buddy Program: We want to make all families feel welcome from the moment they are accepted to Wise School. Play an important role in crafting that experience for families with the EC administration.

New Family Acceptance Day: Want to create a warm welcome for our new EC families? Help make this day extra special by getting involved.

Class Socials: Do you love party planning? Help coordinate our class ocials by working with hosts and making sure that these wonderful mornings and evenings run smoothly!
 

Social Justice

Social Action: Make a difference in the lives of others. This Wise committee will work closely with Temple Social Justice/Social Action leaders on various projects throughout the year from Mitzvah Day to Passover drives, and assembling Mother’s Day baskets.

SOVA: Help coordinate the collection of non-perishable food for the Valley SOVA distribution center. We have weekly pick-ups and deliveries that you will help out with. Bonus: The kids can help out with the delivery. It’s a wonderful experience!

Sustainability: Advance efforts to create a more eco-minded campus. Work with Temple Social Justice/Social Action leaders on various efforts throughout the year.

Wise Hearts (EC and DK-6): Help grow our Temple's caring community. Support Wise School families in times of crisis and joy by writing a note, sending home a teddy bear, or arranging a hot meal.

Beit Issie Shapiro: Parents help support the children of Beit Issie Shapiro, an educational and medical facility in Israel for children with special needs, coordinating creative fundraising activities such as farmers markets and Cycle for Smiles events.

School Events

Grade 6 Graduation Party: Class of 2015 is going to celebrate in style! Parents of 6th Graders will help put together a high energy evening for the lucky graduates.

Maccabi Games: Do you have fond memories of your own Field Day? Help create the same great memories for our K-6 students. Assist the P.E. staff in organizing the festivities for the athletic event in June.

Midor L’Dor: Fellow Wise parents working together to plan a special morning for grandparents, uncles and aunts or that special someone in our children’s lives.

Wildcats Award Ceremony: Parents of 4th, 5th and 6th Graders help celebrate our athletes in style at the annual Wildcats Award Ceremony. The committee’s work will be rewarded with the cheers from our Wildcat athletes.

Yom Ha Moreh (DK-6): The day we get to thank all the Wise Elementary School teachers and staff for the wonderful job they do every single day. A beautiful luncheon is planned for the teachers and staff to enjoy.

Book Fair: Celebrate literature and be part of the team that puts together the most wonderful Book Fair in town! There are a myriad of ways to contribute, from curating a genre, to set-up, restocking, and working the register. What will you do? (EC and K-6 Chairs needed)

DK/Kindergarten Welcome: Welcome the newest members of our Elementary School on an afternoon a few days before school starts. Plan an ice cream social that will leave smiles, sprinkles, and fudge all over their sweet faces.

School Services

Hot Lunch: Coordinate a healthy and scrumptious lunch menu with our hot lunch vendors at the beginning of each semester. Take turns delivering pizza and yogurt on Fridays. You’re sure to be the most popular parent on campus. (EC and K-6 Chairs needed)

Lost and Found: Help sort and organize items in the Lost and Found for easy retrieval. You’ll have parents thanking you all year long.

School Supplies: Help coordinate the sale and distribution of school supplies before the school year begins.

Wise Style: What’s cooler than Wise apparel and products? Help coordinate the sale and distribution of school sweatshirts, polo shirts, and other must have items throughout the school year.

Hospitality: What would WPA meetings or informational gatherings be without great food? Help create a spread that would bring a smile to all our faces. (EC and K-6 Chairs needed)

Yearbook: It takes a team to put together a beautiful K-6th grade yearbook. Work closely with other Wise parents to make the book an exceptional keepsake for our kids.

Birthday Celebrations: This job entails printing birthday cards for each birthday child during their birthday month celebration on the last Friday of each month. You will also organize the birthday treats that are sent to every class for the monthly birthday celebration on the last Friday of each month.

Community Building

Holiday Boutique: We have the best boutique in town! Create an irresistible shopping day with fabulous vendors that will leave our community begging for more.

Wise School Gala: Help plan an unforgettable Wise School celebration that will include a live and silent auction, raffle, dinner, and entertainment.

Purim Carnival: Hands down the largest and most attended fundraising event of the year! We are looking for chairs in the following areas:
     Bake Sale – Set up treats for the most popular booth at the carnival.
     Décor – Leave your mark! Use your creativity to jazz up the carnival; the possibilities are unlimited.
     EC Liaison – Keep EC parents apprised of all things Purim.
     Food – What will be on the menu this year? Hot dogs, hamburgers, falafels…?
     Prize Booth – Obtain prizes and organize the prized Prize Booth, then watch the kids’ happy faces as they turn in win tickets.
     Raffle – The kids play games and go on rides while parents cross their fingers in hopes of winning one of several fabulous raffle prizes.
                     Your role is to simply solicit raffle prizes, organize raffle tickets sales, and draw the winning tickets!
     Rides and Games – Help select an array of rides and games for the community to enjoy.
     Sponsorship – Create opportunities for school and temple families to help underwrite the cost of the carnival.
     Ticket Sales – Create opportunities ahead of time to promote the carnival and sell tickets to the event.
     Volunteer – Each year the success of our carnival is owed to the parent volunteers. Help organize the wonderful families who step up to offer a couple of hours of their time at the carnival.

Grade Level Social Chair: Do you love party planning? Help coordinate our grade level socials by working with hosts and making sure that these wonderful mornings and evenings run smoothly!

Back to Wise: The school year will begin with a bang. Join in the planning for 2015-2016’s Back to Wise event. (EC and K-6 Chairs needed)

Party Book: The Party Book committee works to field and promote the parties, encouraging our Wise Families to take advantage of the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and to welcome new members of the Wise Community.

Treasurer

Assistant Treasurer: Support the Treasurer at all events that have a financial component.

Communication

Room Parent Chair (EC and DK-6): Are you organized, responsible and efficient? If so, you will be a great candidate to oversee the group of room parents – disseminating important information to parents, recruiting volunteers, as well as organizing staff appreciation morning breakfasts, and more.

Social Media: Are you a social media addict? Have you mastered every filter and how to make awesome Instagram stories? If so, this position is for you! Help us capture all of the amazing things the WPA does on social media.

Historian: Great opportunity to capture priceless moments throughout the school year at various classroom and grade level events. Photos are collected, passed on to the overall chair and used in the school yearbook. Duties are ongoing throughout the school year. The use of digital photography preferred. (We are looking for one overall chair and two historians for each grade DK-6th.)
