Thank you for your interest in being a Junior Literacy Leader (“JLL”) for our Summer 2024 Literacy Camp!

As a JLL, you will serve as a teaching assistant and mentor to students who have completed K-5th grade. Please refer to the 2024 JLL Volunteer Description for more detail on the JLL responsibilities.  

JLL Mandatory Training Dates:

• June 9, 2024 from 8:00-4:00

Summer 2024 Program Dates (minimum of 2 weeks required):

• June 17-July 26 (M-F, 8:00 am - 3:30 pm, no program on June 19 and July 4)

Location of West LA Site

• Brockton Avenue Elementary School (1309 Armacost Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90025)

All new JLLs are required to complete an interview with members of our staff and Teen Board. After you submit your application, we will reach out to schedule your interview.

The JLL Summer Contribution

Our teen volunteer program and our larger programs exist because of generous financial support from individuals and families such as yours. 

A suggested donation of any size is requested to help offset costs. With that being said, we do not want financial hardship to be a limiting factor for any teen or family. Please reach out to the Program Coordinator at wrtl@wisereaderstoleaders.org so that we can make an arrangement that is suitable to your family.
